The peptide advantage in pet food

Bioco's products have several advantageous properties regarding applications in pet food. The human grade hydrolyzed proteins and peptides from Bioco have a particularly high degree of hydrolysis. They therefore have several advantages: they contain high levels of peptides and free amino acids with an extremely high digestibility and are therefore particularly suited for animals with feed sensitivity or feed allergy and animals with need for extra proteins. All products from Bioco are human grade and produced in a BRC approved plant.

In addition to special feed for sensitive animals, the hydrolyzed proteins can be used in a wide array of pet food applications. Due to its high digestibility and high protein quality, it is a great ingredient within all super premium pet food that has a focus on good digestion and gut health. The high protein quality and digestibility make it suited for use in food for growing animals, older animals and hard working animals.

Hydrolyzed proteins from Bioco can also be used as a palatant, as their chicken flavor and taste stimulates appetite, which can be desired in for example performance dogs or animals with a low appetite. Cats, with their high requirement for protein, can also greatly benefit from hydrolyzed proteins from Bioco, which are relatively rich in taurine and have an attractive taste.

Felleskjøpet has recently made the change to using Norwegian ingredients in Labb food for cats and dogs - both hydrolyzed proteins and oil from Bioco is used in the new recipe.

Oil from Bioco is a pure chicken and turkey oil from Norwegian raw materials that can be used as a high quality fat source in pet food, with a typical fatty acid profile as found in chicken. Bioco also produces a protein and mineral rich meal that is high in collagen amino acids as well as calcium and phosphorus, which can be utilized in snacks and treats, amongst other applications. As Bioco products are produced from cartilage, this meal is also rich in chondroitin, which might support joint health.
